Seattle Strength

Nathan (left) and Feras (right) are two sassy strong men from Seattle who sported some seriously stellar beards. Nathan is a veteran of competition, this being is fourth overall and first nationals, and since he’s always had the gift of growing a beard naturally he sought out to capitalize on his talent. Feras, rockin’ that orange suit like nobody’s business, decided after college he needed to grow a beard because it was time to become a man. And we couldn’t love those glorious beards more, guys. Trust us.

Spiral Wonder

The genius behind this spectacular spiral-curled beard is none other than Paul Steinmiller from Colchester, Connecticut. This was Paul’s second time competing at nationals in the freestyle beard competition. He’s been growing his long facial locks for 28 years, though they’re normally tamed back into a braid for his work as a machinist; after all, it’d be a travesty for this amazing beard to get caught in any sort of equipment and be compromised! Paul and his delightful wife Debbie have known each other 17 years, and she’s never seen his chin, and never wants to. We don’t want to either, Debbie. We don’t want to, either.

Bearded Buds

Nick and Nolan are bearded buddies from Southern California who had a great showing at Nationals. Nick, holdings the Jamo on the left, spends his days molding young minds as a substitute teacher and Nolan keeps things working for the good of the people both on the railroad and as an electrician. They’ve been growing their beards for six months and one year, respectively. We can’t wait to see the progress that’s been made by next year!

Guest ‘Stache

Even though we contain most of our mad love for beards here at Beards of Denver, occasionally we spread that love to a great Stand Alone Mustache. Wesley from Nashville came out to Vegas to compete in the Dali mustache category. He’s a welder and printer in Tennessee and decided to grow his stache for the simple joy of it all. Pretty awesome if we do say so ourselves

Beards of Denver Goes to Vegas

Sometimes, you have to travel for a cause. In our case, that cause was the National Beard and Mustache Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, November 11th. Over 300 handsome devils competed in 18 categories for the best beard and ‘stache in all the (U.S.) land. If you’re curious about the results, you can check them out here.

Several of the hairy contestants are documented over in our facebook album from the event, but we will also give you some individual features here. Hope you enjoy! We certainly did.

Below, a little taste of the competition.

These two were a trip!

Perhaps my second favorite beard of all the beards there. Mike from Idaho.

I didn’t meet this bearded wonder, but sure wish I would have.

The cutest couple there! Oana and Jeff from Pennsylvania with his amazing, amazing Garibaldi beard.

Tattooed Wonder

We happened across Nik and his amazing beard this week at Double Daughters downtown, where, if you’re lucky, Nik will make you one of his delicious specialty cocktails. When he’s not slinging drinks for his many beard admirers, he’s an aspiring tattoo artist, even being bold enough to tattoo himself. With a beard like this, we’re not surprised.

The Real Matt Woods

We found Matt while enjoying some delicious brew at the Denver Beer Co. He was serenading the suds while on tour in Denver this past weekend. When asked if we could present his lovely beard to millions (millions) of online viewers, he said (in the best Knoxville accent you can think up) “but this beard’s not from Denver, it’s from Tennessee”. We told him beards that are just passing through are also worth celebrating. You can check out his sweet music at http://www.therealmattwoods.com. Don’t ever let anyone get near his beard with a pair of scissors, Matt said that like Samson, he holds all of his strength and talent in his beard. Rock on, Shemesh.

Kindergarten Cop

We’d like to introduce you to the man teaching the future beards of tomorrow—this is Micheal, a kindergarten teacher. Yep, how jealous are you that you didn’t have a teacher like this raging bearded fool? We certainly are! Micheal came to denver from Michigan and says that he really loves the volume of his beard. Get loud, teacher man.

Beard Pocket

Nicolas K….nice work, my fair feathered friend. Those beautiful locks perfectly compliment your kick ass beard. Nicolas is a big fan of function. He told us that not only does he appreciate the warmth that his beard provides to his face like a soft blankie, but that his beard is also there to aid in a possible pocketless situation. He can hide anything in that nest—pulled out a couple of cigs to demonstrate for us last night. We’ll know where to search next time we loose something.

Beard Shark Jim

Thank God we have a photo to document that this sweet beard hunk really exists. Friends of BofD, meet Jim. What a treat to see this beard out on a Friday night. He’s a Denver native and has been growing his beard since birth. He told us that his beard really just “gives him something to do”—-and that approximately 8-10 women per week come up to touch his face. Oh, and he wanted us to mention that he’s into charity work, mustache rides are always free. Thanks, Jim!
