Sometimes when you go grocery shopping on Sunday afternoon you find a lot better things than bread and milk. We happened upon Phil and his awesome–and healthy–beard in the produce section of Sunflower Market in Highlands. Phil’s been growing his beard the past 10 years, and he and five of his buddies–many of whom hang out or work at Fire on the Mountain in Highlands–recently had a competition to see who could grow the best, most badass beard, but Phil said he sadly lost because he had to trim his beard for a big meeting, as he works for an environmental non-profit. In Phil’s words his beard was “way out of control.” We’re thinking we would have approved. Phil’s wife Keenan loves his beard, and wants him to grow it even longer; she’s obviously a very wise woman. We certainly hope Phil grants her request and again grows his beard out to its full beard-potential!
