Awesome Beard on Elm Street

There aren’t always nightmares on Elm Street; sometimes there are amazing beards! We met Tommy a few months back at The Elm bar on East Colfax and Elm and we were immediately amazed by his fantastic handle bar mustache and beard combination. Tommy first started growing facial hair when he was 16 back in his home state of Wisconsin because he found an ID that said he was 23, so he figured he needed a little facial-hair power to back up that ID (smart thinking!) Tommy’s been in Denver over nine years, but is still an official shareholder of the Green Bay Packers, and his nickname back in Wisconsin is Weird Beard. When asked how that name came about, he told us he used to have a huge goatee and he would always eat chicken wings, which prompted a friend to say on one occasion that he had chicken in his Weird Beard (again), and the name stuck (just like that pesky chicken). Tommy’s sweetheart Kelly loves his ‘stache/beard combo, and we can’t blame her, it is pretty fantastic! Thanks Tommy!

Continental Deli Beards

It's pretty obvious that we ladies of Beads of Denver love a man with an amazing beard; we've laid the groundwork for that not-so-earth-shaking statement. But we also love a good bratwurst. Imagine our delight when we happened into Continental Deli in Cherry Creek on Saturday and not only sampled some amazing sausage, but met three handsome bearded gents working the counter! Meet Sam, Brace and Max (L-R). Sam, a Denver native, has had his beard about 5 months, and keeps it just in the winter months, where it serves him well while he's biking around Denver. Brace, also a Colorado native, has had this version of his beard about 9 months; he described his shaving habits as "lazy" thus leading to his facial prowess. Max keeps his heard all year long and before moving to Denver about four years ago he lived in Indiana. Max claimed no one was really a fan of his beard in Indiana but it's much more accepted in out here. We encourage everyone to stop into the deli and say hi to these great guys soon--and take advantage of the sample table! it was divine. Cheers guys!

Tree Trimming

We had the pleasure to happen upon Andy and his dark beard this past weekend when we were outside of Winter Park cutting down Christmas trees (and drinking Irish Coffee and eating grilled cheese). Andy works for the Forest Service and was helping those of us looking to acquire trees for the upcoming holiday (note the saws in the background). Aside from his Forest Service duties, Andy also works ski patrol at Winter Park occasionally, and said it's just too much work to shave his beard, especially if he's out in the woods 5 to 6 days at time. Keep up the good work Andy and keep that beard growing!

Cheese-tastic Times Two

It’s well known that all the Pretty People frequent Whole Foods in Cherry Creek, so it was no surprise to encounter Brett (left) and Devin (right) and their awesome facial hair there this week. Brett, born and raised in Loveland, Colorado, has bared his beard, on and off, for the past decade. Devin is originally from Virginia, but he and his impressive sideburns now call Colorado home. You too can experience their bearded prowess at Whole Foods, where they teach a monthly class on cheese and pairings. All we can say is sign us up!
