Hogshead Beard

We found Rick and his great beard behind the Hogshead Brewery taps at the Denver Beer Festivus on Sunday. Originally from San Francisco, Rick and his beard first came to Colorado in 1993. He started growing his beard again about five months ago when he and his wife moved back to Denver from Malaysia after living there for three years. Rick hates shaving, and even though his wife doesn’t like kissing him with his beard, he still sports it proudly. Rick and his beard have been managing Hogshead Brewery for about three months, and we highly recommend stopping into the brewery, saying hi to Rick, and sampling the delicious Gilpin Black Gold beer—you won’t be disappointed with the brew or the beard!

All in the Family Beard

Josh was another beard spotted at the Denver Beer Festivus in Civic Center Park on Sunday. Pictured with Josh and his amazing beard are his father on the left, who was visiting from Lincoln, Nebraska for the weekend (and beard a striking resemblance to Sean Connery), and Josh’s brother on the right, Jarrett, who greatly assisted in Josh’s beard interview. We learned Josh has had his beard for the past decade, and has been growing a beard since he was 15 years old. Jarrett used to have a rockin’ beard, too, but because of fear of bird attacks he cut back. Due to Jarrett’s top-notch interviewing skills, we learned that Josh has never been attacked by flying objects because of his beard, but he did recently have a sparrow trapped in his house and it came perilously close to nesting in Josh’s fantastic beard. Luckily, it seems he was left unscathed. But, birds beware: we can’t imagine the beard power if all three of these gentlemen grew their beards out!

Metal Brewery Beard, It’s TRVE

We had the pleasure to meet Nick at the Denver Beer Festivus sponsored by Imbibe.com on Saturday in Denver. Nick is the proprietor at TRVE Brewing Company located at Second and Broadway, which specializes in making great brews AND playing metal music. Nick, originally from the east coast, started growing his beard around 2006, and has had his current beard about six months. His favorite thing about his beard is the attention it gets him, and deservedly so! TRVE Brewing Company is currently open Wednesday through Saturday, but in January you can enjoy a brew there on Sundays, too. We encourage you to drop by sooner than later—it’s not everywhere you can enjoy a great beer, metal music, and admire an awesome beard.

Beauty Beard

Hello Beauty Bar! Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised to meet this fair feathered friend at a bar we thought was known for mani's and martinis. Tucker told us this beard just had his 6 month birthday. He has his own beauty regimen-he shampoos, conditions and combs his beard and he particularly loves the flash 'o grey that it displays. He also appreciates that he is able to conceal his facial expressions. Nice try, Tucker---we can tell you're grinning with pride.

Beard Lust for the Holidays

We happened upon Will and his long and luxurious beard on Friday night at the SIE Film Center (formerly the Colfax Film Center) where he works. He’s been growing his beard for about 13 months, and again, laziness is a key factor to the production of Will’s awesome beard, not-to-mention he’s blessed with exceptionally speedily beard growth. Originally from Southern Illinois, Will, who lives in Denver now, told us his beard is currently the longest it’s ever been, and his lovely wife Rebecca certainly approves; at their wedding last year they even played the song “Beard Lust” by the band Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head. Trust us, you should queue up that song ASAP, it’s totally worth a listen! Thanks Will!

Other Worldly Beard

Ryan was another beardie we were lucky enough to meet at the Of Monsters and Men show in Boulder last week. Ryan’s had his beard for about four years, and again, laziness in reference to shaving is the main contributor to his handsome beard. Ryan is another wonderful Colorado native beard: he now lives in Boulder, but grew up in the Littleton area. While growing out that amazing facial mane, he works as a mechanical engineer for the University of Colorado in satellite and space weather research. We’d certainly vouch that his beard is out of this world!

Un Hombre de Barba

You know you're going to have an awesome pie eating experience if this beard has anything to do with it. We had the pleasure of meeting Brian at Kaos Pizza last weekend. He's been growing this burly beard for the past 2 1/2 years. When we asked what his bearded beauty secrets were, he immediately took out a comb from his back pocket and showed us his dread prevention. He also only uses Aveda products on his locks. He enjoys the different colors that his beard displays---and he also likes that people often mistake him for Fidel Castro. Liberty for beards or death!

A Winning Beard Indeed

We have another visiting beard to display/celebrate. Meet Mr. Eric Evans from Salt Lake. We met him and his kick ass hockey crew at the DU/Badger hockey game. Eric's been growing this gnarly beard since June. He told his team that he would grow it until they lost....they obviously have yet to lose. He loves that people think he can lift heavy things. He also gave us his secret recipe for his style--he uses Carmex with a touch of saliva for his mustache. Yum!

The Bold and the Beard-iful

We couldn't NOT approach Cory and inquire about his bold and brash beard. A Colorado native, he and his beard have resided in Denver for the past two years, and he's been growing his beard about fie years. He rocks his beard mainly because his wife loves it (obviously, a woman of great taste!) and he used to like "bad facial hair" and thought it was funny to groom his facial hair in a variety of ways, until he realized the beard suited him best. Cory works as a social worker in the Denver area, helping connect the community to different resources, and we're sure his awesome beard is a great asset to that cause. Awesome to meet you and admire your beard, Cory!

Bearded Beer Trafficker

We had the pleasure of meeting Dan and admiring his awesome beard while trying the Wynkoop's Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout beer at the Bacon and Beer Fest at Mile High Station Sunday (trust us--the beer was extremely tasty and the beard extraordinarily rad). When Dan isn't hocking Wynkoop beers at the Bacon and Beer fest, he's busy with sales for Wynkoop around the Denver area. He's been growing his beard since October 1st and plans to shave it April 1st, and we'll be sure to have a progress report for you at that time--we can't wait to see the final results!
