True Dude

The only thing that could possibly compliment this beard more would be a white Russian milk stache. This fine specimen is Ray from Lakewood. This particular beard is only 3 months young. You can typically find Ray and his beard at a Denver concert venue or up in the Rockies for some alpine love. He’s been a Mary Jane-er (obviously) his whole life but is giving some love to Loveland this ski season. When asked what the biggest joy is that his beard brings him, he told us he loves that it gets him on a lot of cool websites. Best answer yet. We asked him about his grooming schedule and he told us that he let’s the beard be as it will, "the beard must abide”.

Old Testament Beard

It's true what they say, everything grows better on the Vine. It was beard Mecca at Vine Street last night, that's where we met this beard of Biblical proportions, Laban. This beard was born and raised in Ohio and has been calling Denver home for the past 8 years. He keeps his 8 month old beard in check by doing nothing. He's a no-maintenance, true mountain man. When asked if people like to talk about his beard, his response: "No, just you, actually." We don't believe him. He has a lot of support for his beard, his wife is a huge fan and he told us he loves Colorado because no one judges the bearded man. No we don't, Ladan, we only admire.

Juan Ponce de Beard

Happy hump day! Boy did we have a rip roaring good time ogling the bearded beauties on Broadway last weekend. Here's Taylor, we found him enjoying some delicious brews at the Hornet. Taylor got to Denver as fast as possible from his home state of Florida. We feel ya, buddy. Less white linen, more manly beards is our motto. His current beard is about 3 months old and he loves that it opens the door for conversation. He strives to make the volume of his beard equal throughout and he does this by only shampooing it on occasion to keep the beard fro in check. He'd like to suggest that all men have the potential to grow a beard and that they should just go for it and see what happens. We agree!

Missouri Triple Threat

Missouri Triple Threat

Here are some guest beards for your Tuesday! Meet John, Kyle and Chris (left to right) from Missouri. John and his beard come from Joplin where he’s the president of Trumascape. He loves that his beard is a loyal companion and is always there for him. “I usually pet my beard when I’m in deep thought; it’s there to support me”. He also takes the verbal abuse from his loved ones in stride, like when his mom and sister say “we hope you’re not doing this because you think it looks good”. Be patient with them, John. Not all understand the magic of the beard.
Next we have Kyle, who started growing his beard after Movember to show up some of his friends in good ‘ol bearded competition. Ladies of Missouri, you can find this beard studying hard in PT school at Rockhurst University.
Last is the life saving beard. Chris is an ICU RN in Joplin. You know you’re in good hands with facial hair like this. What lucky patients you have!
Nice meeting you beards–now, do our community a favor and move to Denver!

That’s One Sweets’ Beard

We met Sweets also last week at Goosetown Tavern where he was slinging drinks and putting up with the rowdy and raucous bingo crowd. Sweets is a Denverite through and through and has been growing his beard for about two and a half years; it was three inches longer until recently but his beard was getting too long and so he was forced to scale it back some. His fiance is in favor of his beard, and we definitely have to agree with her good taste. Sweets plays up his beard in costume as well, as he was a Viking this year for Halloween, which seems a very fitting choice. Make sure to stop by Goosetown soon, have a drink, play some bingo, and admire Sweets awesome beard!

Bingo Beards

We met Hunter (right), Austin (left), and their neighbor and bingo sidekick Mallory, at Goosetown Tavern during Bingo night last week. Austin and Hunter were college roommates at CU Boulder and now they and neighbor Mallory reside in the Congress Park neighborhood in Denver. Hunter started growing his awesome beard during No Shave November last month, and it has grown into a fantastic Decem-beard. Austin began growing his Amish-like beard a year and a half ago, and his beard has been inspired by mystical/magical direction, as he swears he sucked on a dying unicorn's horn and its last wish was for Austin to grow an Amish beard, so, naturally, he obliged (you can't turn down a dying unicorn's last wish, after all). In addition, Austin, who grew up in Southern California but was born in Colorado, swears the unicorn presented him with a bouquet of lilies, a packet of glitter, and a lifetime supply of pink and purple Nerds, not to mention blessed him with 7 fortunes in 2013, which one, obviously, is to grow an amazing beard. We're not sure what the whole truth is, but we can vouch that both of their beards were awesome. And next time at Bingo, they're sure to win!

Hogshead Beard

We found Rick and his great beard behind the Hogshead Brewery taps at the Denver Beer Festivus on Sunday. Originally from San Francisco, Rick and his beard first came to Colorado in 1993. He started growing his beard again about five months ago when he and his wife moved back to Denver from Malaysia after living there for three years. Rick hates shaving, and even though his wife doesn’t like kissing him with his beard, he still sports it proudly. Rick and his beard have been managing Hogshead Brewery for about three months, and we highly recommend stopping into the brewery, saying hi to Rick, and sampling the delicious Gilpin Black Gold beer—you won’t be disappointed with the brew or the beard!

All in the Family Beard

Josh was another beard spotted at the Denver Beer Festivus in Civic Center Park on Sunday. Pictured with Josh and his amazing beard are his father on the left, who was visiting from Lincoln, Nebraska for the weekend (and beard a striking resemblance to Sean Connery), and Josh’s brother on the right, Jarrett, who greatly assisted in Josh’s beard interview. We learned Josh has had his beard for the past decade, and has been growing a beard since he was 15 years old. Jarrett used to have a rockin’ beard, too, but because of fear of bird attacks he cut back. Due to Jarrett’s top-notch interviewing skills, we learned that Josh has never been attacked by flying objects because of his beard, but he did recently have a sparrow trapped in his house and it came perilously close to nesting in Josh’s fantastic beard. Luckily, it seems he was left unscathed. But, birds beware: we can’t imagine the beard power if all three of these gentlemen grew their beards out!

Big Choice Beard

Zach was another bearded gem we encountered at the Denver Beer Festivus on Saturday. Zach is a brewer at Big Choice Brewing in Broomfield, and started growing his beard about three months ago when he decided to break into the brewing industry. He’s still a newbie to the Denver area, being here about a year, arriving via Dallas. Obviously, local beard fans are very lucky he made the switch to D-town. Zach boldly declared he is never going to stop growing his beard until he retires, or dies first. We admire such beard dedication!

Metal Brewery Beard, It’s TRVE

We had the pleasure to meet Nick at the Denver Beer Festivus sponsored by Imbibe.com on Saturday in Denver. Nick is the proprietor at TRVE Brewing Company located at Second and Broadway, which specializes in making great brews AND playing metal music. Nick, originally from the east coast, started growing his beard around 2006, and has had his current beard about six months. His favorite thing about his beard is the attention it gets him, and deservedly so! TRVE Brewing Company is currently open Wednesday through Saturday, but in January you can enjoy a brew there on Sundays, too. We encourage you to drop by sooner than later—it’s not everywhere you can enjoy a great beer, metal music, and admire an awesome beard.
