Two Beards are Better than One

We've always been in love with Telluride. The skiing, bluegrass and blues means two things for the ladies of B of D: good times and great beards. We were in hog heaven last weekend while enjoying all of the magic that Telluride has to offer. These two beards were the cherries on top! Eryk and Jeff were so kind in letting their dinners be interrupted so we could snatch a shot of their glorious mugs. The meeting was kismet, they live in Denver! Eryk (left) is from the Chicago area originally but moved out west back in 1997 (when he was 12---which is strange because he told us his beard is 15 years old). Those Midwestern men! He likes everything about his beard, the sweetest part being how it feels against his hot man Jeff’s beard. Jeff moved out to Denver from Minnesota. He originally grew the beard as a protective layer during the harsh Minnesota winters. He loves that birds can live in his beard, if he lets it grow long enough. *Interesting fact, this was not the first time we’ve gotten that comment… He also is a big fan of the beard on beard action, it’s probably because they’re both Dove soap users. Those commercials don’t lie! Nice meeting you fine men!

Poli Sci Beard

Beards of Denver fans, meet Brian from Boulder. We met Brian, and his lovely wife Kate, at a recent house party in Denver's South City Park neighborhood. Brian, who is a Political Science PhD candidate at CU Boulder, has had his amazing ginger beard about 8 years, the past 7 of them being in Colorado. When asked the most memorable comment anyone has made about his beard, a recent evaluation from a student came to mind: "Brian's beard brings benevolent warmth to the classroom that can't be put into words." We're pretty sure that student got an A+.

Out of this World Beard

We met Brett in Jupiter--literally. Well, Jupiter, Florida that is. As if it wasn't amazing enough to be at a late night beach party along the Atlantic Ocean celebrating friends who had gotten married earlier that day, we also had the pleasure of stumbling upon Brett and his amazing ginger beard. Brett has been living in Jupiter for seven years and items he keeps on his bucket list include keeping his awesome beard growing and finding a good woman who appreciates his beard, which we can't imagine will be too tough a task. Move to Denver Brett, and it may be even easier! Until then, keep up the good beard-growing work.

Brother Beard

One-half of the Beards of Denver main cohort traveled to the amazing and ever-exciting state of South Dakota a few weeks ago to celebrate Christmas time, eat entirely too much food, and document a few beards while on location. Mark not only sports an especially impressive beard, he's also the younger brother of one of the ladies behind BOD. Mark's been growing his beard the past few months, and is pictured here with the infamous Wheaten Terrier Daisy, who sports her own impressive beard, which she, like Mark, grows out during Beard Season. While Mark resides in Sioux Falls, South D, he does make appearance in Denver, with his next to be sometime in the early half of 2013. When he's not busy grooming his beard, he's a connoisseur of Chicken Pot Pies. Keep up the great Beard work, Mark and Daisy!

Missouri Triple Threat

Missouri Triple Threat

Here are some guest beards for your Tuesday! Meet John, Kyle and Chris (left to right) from Missouri. John and his beard come from Joplin where he’s the president of Trumascape. He loves that his beard is a loyal companion and is always there for him. “I usually pet my beard when I’m in deep thought; it’s there to support me”. He also takes the verbal abuse from his loved ones in stride, like when his mom and sister say “we hope you’re not doing this because you think it looks good”. Be patient with them, John. Not all understand the magic of the beard.
Next we have Kyle, who started growing his beard after Movember to show up some of his friends in good ‘ol bearded competition. Ladies of Missouri, you can find this beard studying hard in PT school at Rockhurst University.
Last is the life saving beard. Chris is an ICU RN in Joplin. You know you’re in good hands with facial hair like this. What lucky patients you have!
Nice meeting you beards–now, do our community a favor and move to Denver!

Other Worldly Beard

Ryan was another beardie we were lucky enough to meet at the Of Monsters and Men show in Boulder last week. Ryan’s had his beard for about four years, and again, laziness in reference to shaving is the main contributor to his handsome beard. Ryan is another wonderful Colorado native beard: he now lives in Boulder, but grew up in the Littleton area. While growing out that amazing facial mane, he works as a mechanical engineer for the University of Colorado in satellite and space weather research. We’d certainly vouch that his beard is out of this world!

Monstrous yet Manly

We met Brad in Boulder at the Of Monsters and Men show last week. His main reason for growing his beard is, like so many men we encounter, is laziness (in regards to shaving). Brad usually keeps his beard for a month or two before shaving it and starting over. He spent some time in Alaska in recent years, where his beard was really able to grow out to its full glory. We can only imagine how magnificent it was!. Brad and his beard are Colorado natives and we sure hope he decides to extend his beard’s lifetime, at least throughout the current Beard Season!

A Winning Beard Indeed

We have another visiting beard to display/celebrate. Meet Mr. Eric Evans from Salt Lake. We met him and his kick ass hockey crew at the DU/Badger hockey game. Eric's been growing this gnarly beard since June. He told his team that he would grow it until they lost....they obviously have yet to lose. He loves that people think he can lift heavy things. He also gave us his secret recipe for his style--he uses Carmex with a touch of saliva for his mustache. Yum!

Tree Trimming

We had the pleasure to happen upon Andy and his dark beard this past weekend when we were outside of Winter Park cutting down Christmas trees (and drinking Irish Coffee and eating grilled cheese). Andy works for the Forest Service and was helping those of us looking to acquire trees for the upcoming holiday (note the saws in the background). Aside from his Forest Service duties, Andy also works ski patrol at Winter Park occasionally, and said it's just too much work to shave his beard, especially if he's out in the woods 5 to 6 days at time. Keep up the good work Andy and keep that beard growing!

Distinguished Gentelman

What’s there to say about this beard but WOW. Tyler Shannon from Seattle earned major props for his well-maintained verdi beard at the national competition, coming in second in a very competitive category. Apparently there’s a lot of time to keep a beard looking great while staying out of all that Seattle rain. One fan’s reaction to Tyler’s amazing beard sums it up perfectly: STELLAR, she said of his amazing man. Just STELLAR.
